Tyia (she/her) is a high school junior from New York focused on studying the many spheres of education with an emphasis on social justice. She has been involved with Art and Resistance through Education since January of 2021, first as a member of Youth Voices Lead, and currently as a member of the Junior Board. Outside of ARTE, Tyia is a steering committee member at National Agenda for Black Girls at Girls for Gender Equity where she lobbies for legislation and works directly with the White House Gender Policy Council. She has also worked for Justin Krebs’s campaign for City Council in New York’s 39th district, involving herself with voter outreach and research. Currently in the top 5% of her graduating class, Tyia tutors students at her school in core areas like Math and English. She enjoys an array of topics and has often found herself given to niche interests like art history, co-founding a Film, Art, Literature, and Music club at her school.
