Art and Resistance through Education
Renee Morales (she/her) is a student at Columbia University, where she studies English Literature and Creative Writing with a focus on Poetry.
As a poet, Renee traverses the experiences of consolidating a transnational identity, understanding her relationships to Caribbeanness, queerness, and financial insecurity. When she's not writing, she's dog-watching in public parks with her best friends, eagerly hoping to spot a Corgi, Bassett Hound, or a Dachshund.
As an intern, she's enthusiastic about learning from young artists and allowing them to inspire her work and teach her about youth-led activism.
One of Renee's favorite art exhibits is Carrie Mae Weems' "The Kitchen Table Series," specifically Untitled (mother and daughter), 1990 and Untitled, 1990.
